Smoke Free Housing

Air qualities in apartment buildings show that 5-60% of the air in the apartment unit moves to other units in the building. Contrary to popular belief, second hand smoke cannot be controlled by ventilation or air cleaning.

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department has worked with Arapahoe, Cambridge, Grant, Imperial, McCook, Oxford, Palisade, and Wauneta Housing Agencies to develop their smoke-free policies. Assistance is available to other housing agencies and private landlords to develop their smoke-free policy.
